Bio

Ashley Johnson (she/her) is a Staff Attorney at the ACLU Women’s Rights Project. Ashley began her work at the ACLU as a legal fellow in the Women's Rights Project, where she focused on vindicating the health and safety rights of low-wage healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before rejoining the ACLU as a staff attorney, Ashley clerked for the Honorable Rosemary S. Pooler of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Valerie E. Caproni of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Prior to law school, Ashley worked for several years in creative development in the film industry before leaving entertainment to pursue her passion for gender justice. During law school, Ashley was an online editor of the California Law Review and a research assistant to Professor Amanda Tyler and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on their book Justice, Justice Thou Shalt Pursue. Ashley received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law and her B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.
